Who is responsible

Skaldeverk runs this site for The Explödements. We decide what is counted on it and how long it is kept; the band cannot change any of it and cannot switch it on or off. Write to privacy@skaldeverk.no.

What is recorded

Two things, and this list is the whole of it: which kind of page was served — this site’s front page or its press kit — and the calendar day it was served on. Those are added to a running total for the day.

Nothing else is recorded. Not the address your request came from, not a shortened or scrambled version of it, not where you came from, not which country or city you are in, not the time of day, not your browser, your device or your operating system, and no identifier of any kind that would tell one visitor from another. Nothing about you is recorded, so there is nothing here to look you up by.

Why

So that The Explödements can see whether anybody is looking at their site, and whether that is going up or down. That is the only use. It is never pooled with other bands’ figures, never compared or ranked against them, and never used by Skaldeverk for anything of our own.

How long it is kept

The daily totals are kept for 13 months and then deleted, so a band can compare a month against the same month a year earlier. Nothing is kept longer.

Nothing is stored on your device

No cookie is set, no cookie is read, and nothing is written to your browser’s storage. This page is cookieless, and so is every other page on this site. Nothing in the page asks your browser to send anything back for the purpose of measurement — there is no tracking script, no pixel and no beacon, which is why you have not been asked to consent to anything.

Where it goes

Nowhere. The request that served you this page, the counting, and the stored totals all stay inside the European Economic Area. There is no third party who receives any of it: no analytics company, no advertising network, no data broker, and nothing on this site is loaded from anybody else’s servers.

The server’s own logs, which are a different thing

Separately from the counting above, the web server writes an ordinary request log, and those lines include the address your request came from. They are kept for a short period so that faults and abuse can be investigated, and they are not used to produce any figure a band is shown. We say so here rather than leave it out: it would be easy to describe this site as keeping nothing at all, and that would not be true.
